our tomatoes
Our tomatoes this summer were few in number but the best tomatoes I had e.v.e.r. tasted. D and the boys could eat tomatoes daily and at ever meal... Audrey and I aren't huge tomato lovers and only like them on sandwiches and in dishes, but I could eat these plain. They were so bright red this summer...
I only wish we had more! :)
There were a couple weeks where we had BLT's for a bunch of meals.

candy for the cows
the guys had to cut some corn down so there would be room for the tractor to drive through while chopping silage... the cows got a nice treat
meet Mr. No Name.
I keep wanting to call him Craig (remember our bull who would eat apples out of our hands?)
Well, Craig is now hamburger because his swimmers didn't want to.... ummm.... swim.
So this is Mr. No Name who needs a name... We now have a second Mr. No Name besides this Mr. No Name who you will meet in an upcoming post.
Did I lose anyone? :)
nothing beats a pretty green pasture with bright blue sky! I could sit here for hours and watch them.

a day getaway
Clear Lake is one of my very favorite places.
Spending time in this cozy town reminds me of many wonderful childhood memories.
*my family and "extended family" spent almost every 4th of July here
*my family took quite a few vacations here
*D and I went here for our mini honeymoon
*my favorite sandwich shop e.v.e.r is located here
*awesome antique shops
*serene, peaceful, beautiful
*Ge-Jos Italian restaurant has awesome pizza!
*our family has taken quite a few day-getaways here just to spend time at the lake, drive around, eat ice cream, eat pizza, and relax
A few weeks ago, we took off for Clear Lake to spend the day together. We started our day at Ge-Jo's for pizza and lemonade.
then walked across the street to play at the park
I failed to take any lake pictures. Maybe in the next couple of years we'll have the kids ride with us on The Lady of the Lake.. I don't think at these ages they would sit for the 90 minute ride. :)

the giant slide
yes, I realize the state fair was over a month ago, but I recently came across these pictures. :)
When I was growing up, we were never allowed to experience the midway at the fair (our kids don't step foot in there either), but the one thing we always got to do was go down the Giant Slide.
So even now, when we go, it's always me who takes any willing kiddos down. Landon was sure he wanted to go down by himself but once we got to the top, he was sure he didn't want to go down by himself.
it looks like I'm having waaaay more fun than Landon is
Wyatt looks a little tense also! :)
Once at the bottom, both boys claimed they loved it and wanted to go again.
Once is enough for the year.
