This summer, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary with a little weekend getaway to Galena. It was absolutely perfect weather and a perfect weekend.
One of the things on our to-do list was the Alpine Sledding. It's a track built on a ski slope that you ride sleds (with brakes) down. It was so much fun and would love to take the kids here sometime to do it.
once at the bottom, you get to ride the ski-lift back up to the top
another thing on our to-do list was climb the stairs.. I remember doing this in MiddleSchool.. I also remember this being much easier in MiddleSchool! I wish I could remember how many stairs there were... the pictures don't make it look like very many, but look at the top of this picture.. See all the green trees and grass at the very top of the picture, then see the brick building right below all the green? That's about where we started... We both had major jello legs for the rest of the day... My hips still hurt a week later! :)
we also took a Trolley ride through town.. it was really neat to hear the history and also to hear the stories of many of the buildings
Galena Cellars was another stop we made.. we missed the tour by about 15 minutes, but it was nice being able to stroll and look around just the two of us and at our own pace.
we're not "bed and breakfast people" so we just stayed at a little hotel but were pleased with our room and the pool had a nice sized water slide that we had all to ourselves one afternoon.. that was fun! ...
I didn't have my camera with me too often because I just wanted to enjoy the weekend without a camera to my face but we did and saw so much. A fun place that will be neat to visit again someday.

Places we ate:
Gobbie's: AWESOME! beer nuggets were fabulous, pizza was delicious! house salad was super!
Procento's Pizzeria: tiny restaurant, delicious food!
Sunset Grille at the Chestnut Mountain Resort: fabulous view sitting outside, but food wasn't great
Vinny Vanucchi's Little Italy: we were worried it wouldn't live up to it's hype, but it was terrific food!
Culver's: umm.. yeah... this was right next to our hotel and we had ice cream here every evening :)
Kaladi's Coffee Bar: we had gelato here one afternoon... good, but have had better
