A little entryway history:
When we built our house in 2001, we didn't put a garage on. We knew that at that time, we couldn't afford to put on the "garage of our dreams" and would only be able to put on a standard garage so we decided to wait until we could do it how we wanted it.
About three years later, we were finally able to do it and along with the garage, we added on a huge entryway with tons of room for guest's shoes, coats, etc. It is so wonderful to have, especially the half-dozen times a year when we have large groups over.
Originally it was painted a medium taupe-brown color which was fine, but this room doesn't have a lot of natural light and it was SO DARK... so I decided to paint it in a similar color to our newly redecorated bedroom, which is a nice, pale blue color, which I love!
Like usual, I forgot to take a before picture. :)
D made these hooks for me when we put the entryway and garage on! Love them! And they are only used by guests, so they always stay nice and clean and pretty when guests aren't over.
This door leads into the garage. This is where the kiddos (mostly the boys) keep all of their shoes.
and D's boots.. Love seeing my man's boots by the door!
This door opens up to a closet.....
which houses our old fridge and all of my purses. :)
This basket holds all of the kiddos winter hats, mittens, summer hats and Audrey's coat.
Top container for winter gear and bottom is for summer hats.
This closet isn't very big, but holds all of our coats, D's hats, kiddo backpacks, etc.
I cried when my parent's gave me this picture a few years ago for Christmas. I love it so much!
Love my sign from a gift shop in Ohio!
There you have it.. :) I love coming home to our fresh, clean and organized entryway.
Pictures from the laundry room re-do coming soon!
