daffodils

We are obviously in a different growing zone than those who live just 30 minutes south of us.  While other's daffodils were blooming weeks ago, ours have just popped out.  And they smell delicious!

Last fall, I planted dozens and dozens of bulbs so we would have some Spring Color around here.
I am so very glad I spent all those hours digging in the dirt!
We have lots and lots of daffodils, tulips and others just starting to show some gorgeous color.

Guessing Games and Growth Spurts

::Guessing Games::
Guess what hand my plate is in.
Guess if I'm blinking or not.
Guess what hand my ear is in.
Guess if I'm chewing food or not.
Guess what hand my sandwich is in.
Guess _____________.
Guess _____________.
Guess _____________.
Guess _____________.
Guess _____________.

All. Day. Long.
Landon L.O.V.E.S. guessing games and is always asking us to guess something...    It's hilarious when he asks us to guess what is in his hand because it is usually very obvious that object is not in one hand or the other.  Ohhh Landon...  He is priceless!

::Growth Spurts::
We bought Wyatt some new jammies for  his birthday in February.  In February they fit him great and the pants touched the floor.   The bottoms of his jammie pants are now at least 4 inches off the ground.  He's grown that much is less that 2 months.  I think I need to be stocking up on Size 8 jeans.  Thank goodness for Old Navy and Kohl's sales!

annual swimming

The past three years, we've gotten together at a local hotel and hit the pool and hot tub.

D had a bad cold so didn't swim, but was the official picture taker.

After 10 minutes of shivering, Audrey finally started to have fun.

Hopefully soon we'll be able to spend most of our days at the city pool in the sunshine!  I can't wait!!

Easter evening

We hosted Easter at our house for the 2nd year in a row.
The theme was white, yellow and bunnies

I love entertaining...
I think it's because of the decorating...
And making homemade dinner rolls to share!

The kids hunted for Easter eggs before we ate...   it was a beautiful evening and the kids had fun finding all of the eggs that D and I hid the Easter Bunny hid!  :)
And the adults had a chance to gab a bit.
Can you tell that the guys are farming?
That's what they do when they get together...  they talk farm.  :)

Landon had to sit down and count all of his eggs....

more gabbing.. more farming!  :)

mom with all of the grandkiddos

Wyatt trying to sneak away from the camera

more gabbing :)

and football after supper

That wraps up the Easter pictures...
Stay tuned for a funny hair-do!  :)

Easter morning

hunting for eggs

it didn't take Audrey long to realize there was candy in the eggs...  she dug right in!

can you tell which of our kids is most excited by candy?  :)
(I love the toothpaste dribble down his shirt!)

stuffing their cheeks with candy at 7am

the boys got boomerangs in their Easter baskets...   they played with them all afternoon outside

Audrey and Wyatt were looking out the window for the Easter Bunny

after egg hunting, we did the Resurrection Eggs and ate cinnamon rolls.
The kids didn't eat much breakfast after eating all that chocolate!

hmmm.... this makes me think

This morning, I was catching up on some blogs I follow.  When I got to Renee's blog, it made me stop and really think.  For my post to make sense, you need to read Renee's post about the rock.

When I saw a picture of Renee's rock, I thought it was pretty.  And then she said that it is from Pamida...   so this rock is one of thousands that you could buy at any store across the midwest.  After knowing this, the rock didn't appeal to me.

If I saw the rock at a quaint little shop, I would have found it special.  But if I saw this in Pamida, I would pass it right on by.  Why is that?

Want an example?

Cute bag, huh?  I really do like this bag.  And I would definitely carry this!

Guess what...   I found it online at Wal-Mart.
That kinda took the "specialness" out of it for me.  (is specialness a word?)  :)

But here's the kicker..
This bag retails for $265.  It's a designer bag.

Does it make it a little more special again?  For me it did...   Is my mind warped or does anyone else find themselves thinking like this?

::awwww::

A couple days ago, D accompanied me to the city where I attended a photography seminar.

The next day, we just bummed around, ate a nice breakfast, went shopping, and then D surprised me with a massage.  I l.o.v.e. professional massages but don't get them often....  and it was such a nice treat!
Then we shopped some more, went bowling and picked up a pizza on the way home to treat my parents and our kiddos.

Although I enjoyed the seminar, the highlights of the mini-getaway were definitely the massage and spending one on one time with my great husband!

I think I need that more often as it's very good for my soul!
